What type of hat should I wear?

For Women:

There are many different ways to find the perfect hat for your facial structure. The most important thing though is to pick a color that compliments your skin tone!

If you have an Oval Face:

Lucky you! You can wear pretty much any type of hat! Take actress Cameron Diaz as an example.

For a Round Face:

Make sure to find a hat with a shorter crown and asymmetrical lines or an irregular brim. At the very least, make sure to wear your brim at an angle, since a curved line at the side of your face carries the eye upward and adds length to your face. Stay away from brimless hats and hats that have rounder shapes, like sailor hats.

For Square Faces:

The best shape for you will be a hat with an irregular brim that is of a medium width that dips a tad to one side. You can also angle the hat to one side and make sure that the trimmings on the hat are arranged in an informal balance to soften your facial structure. Stay away from stiff hats or hats with a very square shape and any hat that has an upturned brim in the front.

For a Heart Shaped face:

For your facial shape, look for something that enhances your features, like a brimless hat or a hat with a narrow or medium brim.  These shorter brims tend to balance out your face! Try to avoid hats that have a wider brim because they will overwhelm your features!

For a Long Face:

You need a hat with a slightly drooping, medium width brim that will soften the lines of your face. Try a fedora with a shorter crown and very little trim! Try to avoid hats with tall, thin effects (like a top hat) or a hat that has an upward roll from the face.

For Men!

For a Short Full Face:

For your facial structure, try to find a hat that lengthens your face. Try a medium-height crown that has a medium brim length and a thin band of a contrasting color as this will add height to the hat. Try to keep the brim up in the front, as the traditional fedora shape (brim down in the front) can shorten your face, making to look fuller.

For a Long and Thin Face:

You need a hat that a shorter height hat with a deep pinch and a snap brim. Pick a wider, contrasting band and make sure to tilt your hat!

For Heart Shaped Faces:

Since you have a wider forehead and a narrow chin line like Jon Favreau, you need to be on the lookout for a hat that will balance you out. Try a hat with a medium to short, pinched crown and a medium brim. Make sure that you keep the hat tilted slightly forward and to the side.

For a Square Face:

Like Aeron Eckhart,  you have a very square face and you will need a hat that lake you appear less bony. Try a hat that has a rounder crown, like a homburg or derby that will add curvature to your features!
